First Tale of 2026

Spring has arrived in Vhalandar
Spring is finally here — my favorite season of the year.
Everything feels fresh again: the first bright greens returning to the trees, flowers beginning to bloom, the days slowly stretching longer. There is something magical about that mix of still-cold air and warm sunshine that always brings new energy and inspiration.

And with that, it is time for the first Tales of Vhalandar newsletter of the year.

🌿 A quiet start to the year
Despite my intention to write a newsletter every month, the start of the year has been quieter than planned.

The challenges and uncertainty in the world, especially surrounding the US market, have unfortunately not helped the shop, and it has remained rather quiet for some time. Thankfully, more and more European customers are finding their way to Vhalandar, and it finally feels as though things are beginning to move again.

Partly because of this, I am also preparing to bring Vhalandar into the real world this spring and summer by attending several Dutch markets. I am both excited and a little nervous to see the creatures and stories leave the studio and meet people in person.

📦 Shipping back to normal
There is also some very good news behind the scenes.

Now that Vhalandar is officially registered as a business, shipping has fully returned to normal. I am once again able to ship through my regular postal service instead of relying on expensive courier services. Because of this, shipping costs have dropped significantly, allowing me to adjust my prices again.

For my US customers, there is another important reassurance: original art is exempt from the current import tariffs, so there is no need to worry about additional charges on handmade artworks and sculptures.

📖 The Chronicles continue
Last year ended with the beginning of the very first Chronicles of Vhalandar story: The Night of the Devouring Flame — a darker and more suspenseful story exploring the origins of the newly introduced race, the Drovak.

Since then, the story has continued with the introduction of another mysterious race: the Or’si. Through Farryn’s journey – Farryn and the Child of Dreomere, a new layer of Vhalandar has begun to unfold — older, stranger, and filled with secrets that have long remained hidden.

If you would like to read the Chronicles, you can find them here.

New beings and creations
The stories of Vhalandar are steadily finding their way into physical form.

Following the Chronicles, the first Drovak creation has now entered the world, bringing a darker and more ominous presence to the collection.

The first physical Or’si, Osy’ra, has also taken shape and is now ready to be adopted through Etsy.

A new Curiosity Cabinet has come to life as well — elegant and refined at first glance, yet behind its closed doors and tiny drawers, more macabre secrets are waiting to be discovered.

Three new small Forest Guardians have stepped into the world too, each carrying their own quiet woodland spirit.

All can now be found in the Etsy shop.

🔮 What is still to come
Several new projects are already taking shape behind the scenes.

I am currently working on a new Nissri, as well as a special project featuring not one, but two creatures together.
Another piece in preparation is a wizard’s bookcase inside a glass dome, which I am very excited about.

And, as always, there are many more ideas waiting patiently for the one thing there never seems to be enough of: time.

Until next time, may the first blossoms of spring carry new stories into your world.
