Raxles

At two hundred and sixty-seven years of age, Raxles is the eldest voice of the Elder Council, and with it the longest-serving advisor in the history of the Vhalandir. His life has been quiet and contemplative, untouched by marriage or children of his own, yet filled with devotion to knowledge and wisdom. From childhood he was drawn to philosophy, to the reading of scrolls and the patient study of lore. By the age of fifty-three his learning had already set him apart, and he was granted a seat among the Elders—the youngest ever to take up the mantle of advisor.

Now, more than two centuries later, Raxles still sits in that chamber. Time has bent his back but not his mind; his humility and serenity are as constant as the turning of the seasons. He does not boast of his record nor of his influence, for it is not in his nature. To those who meet him, he is simply a quiet man who listens more than he speaks, and when he does speak, his words carry the weight of long reflection.

Raxles has found in Yixl, the king’s second son, a kindred spirit. In the young man’s fascination with thought and stars he sees a reflection of his own youth, and he takes joy in guiding him. Long hours are spent in conversation—teacher and pupil beneath the forest canopy or in the candlelit halls of the court—speaking of wisdom, memory, and the responsibilities of counsel. In Yixl, Raxles hopes to leave behind not only knowledge but also the gentle patience that has defined his life.

To the Thaeryx, Raxles is not merely an Elder, but a living embodiment of their values: humility, peace, and the pursuit of wisdom. He is a reminder that greatness can lie not in conquest or legacy of blood, but in quiet service and the endless search for understanding.
