Thystle

Among the lively Nissri of Thalorien, Thystle stands out not for his tricks alone, but for the warmth of his laughter. Older than most of his kin, his face is wrinkled with age, his feather-cloak patched many times over, yet his spirit remains as buoyant as a spring breeze. Where others grow quieter or more cautious with the passing of years, Thystle has only grown bolder in his mischief—though never unkind.

His greatest joy lies in fooling his own kind. He will wait hours for the perfect moment to leap from behind a tree or switch a pouch of nuts for one filled with acorns and pebbles, and when the startled cries ring out, his booming laugh follows, rolling through the forest like thunder. That laugh is infectious; even those he has fooled cannot help but grin, their annoyance melting away in the face of his irrepressible cheer.

The younger Nissri adore him, trailing at his heels in hopes of learning his tricks or simply basking in the joy he brings. To them, Thystle is both mentor and playmate, a reminder that laughter binds more tightly than rules. Even the more serious among their kind find it difficult to stay cross with him, for his good nature shines too brightly.

Though never one to speak of wisdom, Thystle carries it nonetheless. He has seen many seasons pass in Thalorien, and when his laughter fades, he can be found sitting quietly with a rare calm in his eyes, watching the sun sink through the trees. Those moments are fleeting, quickly replaced with another round of mischief, yet they linger in the memory of those who know him: proof that even in play, there lies a depth of kindness.
